Perseus Support

Bible Windows and the Workplace programs now work with the forthcoming Perseus TK software.

Perseus is a continually growing digital library of resources for studying the ancient world. The library's materials include ancient texts and translations, philological tools, maps, extensively illustrated art catalogs, and secondary essays on topics like vase painting. Over 70 museums have shared pictures of their art objects.

Perseus contains over 380 texts in Greek and in translation. Perseus 2.0 contains detailed catalogue entries for 1421 vases, 366 sculptures and sculptural groups, 524 coins, 384 buildings, and 179 sites. The Perseus Atlas contains color maps of Greece taken from satellite images, annotated with place names. It is possible to roam through the Atlas, zoom in on regions, and see various photographs of a region. An Historical Overview and an Encyclopedia provide two different secondary means of entry to Perseus. The Historical Overview is a narrative with links to the primary sources: e.g., a mention of Alcibiades is linked to a passage in Plutarch; a description of the Parthenon is linked to its architectural catalogue entry. Encyclopedia articles also include links to primary sources, so that a reader can take a topical as well as a chronological approach to a question.

Unicode Support

Both Bible Windows and the TLG/PHI Workplace programs now support Unicode. The Unicode Worldwide Character Standard is a character coding system designed to support the interchange, processing, and display of the written texts of the diverse languages of the modern world.

Currently, every Bible and TLG/PHI software program uses their own, unique encoding for Greek. This means that you can only use that vendors fonts. With Bible Windows 5.5 or Workplace 7.0 programs, you can switch to any Unicode 2 compliant font from any font vendor. Unicode frees you from any single font vendor and you know that your text will be readable any time in the future.

Bible Windows 5.5CD

Revised Analytical Greek New Testament

Bible Windows 5.5 contains the Revised Analytical Greek New Testament. The analysis has been changed in hundreds of places due to a change in the analysis scheme, different dictionary forms and a few corrections. See AGNT for the new Forward and Appendix material.

Copying Translations

It is now possible to select any or all available translations (including the Latin Vulgate and LXX) when doing an extended copy. So, for example, after you do a search through the Hebrew Bible, you can get the results from the RSV, NRSV, Vulgate and LXX.

And more . . .

There are many more improvements over version 5.1. New and improved Greek fonts. A new macro to insert verses into Word97. Case sensitive searches for the Vulgate, RSV and NRSV. Support for the Greek and Hebrew fonts from the Summer Institute of Linguistics. Lookup all the words in a passage in multiple dictionaries through Logos Library System. This feature allows you to lookup all the words in a passage faster then ever!

Bible Windows 5.5 finally corrects the problems with exporting text to Word Perfect 8. If you need to copy and paste texts with Sgreek or Shebrew into Word Perfect, you need this update.

Bible Windows 5.51

If you own Bible Windows 5.5, you can get the update to 5.51 free via the Internet (send email to support@silvermnt.com), or get the whole CD for $5 shipping and handling.

TLG Workplace

After you get a list of words from the Word Index, you can now get instant analysis of the centuries in which the word is found. If you are interested in the usage of words over time, this is an invaluable tool.
