The Silver Lining
Volume 5 Issue 1 June 1997 WIN95 SUPPORT---BIBLE WINDOWS 5.0 CD-WORKPLACE 6.0 Windows 95/NT Support
Both Bible Windows and the TLG/PHI Workplace programs are now available in both Windows 3.1 and Windows 95/NT versions. All updates include both the Win 3.1 version and the Win 95/NT version. We are only asking you to specify which version of Windows you are using so that we can determine if it is necessary for us to continue to support Win 3.1. Unless there is significant support for Windows 3.1, we will drop Win 3.1 support from future versions. Bible Windows 5.0CDConcordancesBible Windows 5.0 can make a wide variety of "key word in context" and "word list" concordances. Concordances based on the grammatical forms as well as the dictionary forms can be created. The result of a concordance is a file in Rich Text Format which can be read and edited by any major word processor. Additional Greek NTsBible Windows now includes three additional plain, unaccented, Greek New Testaments: Textus Receptus, Wescott-Hort and Tischendorf's 8th edition. These versions are searchable. One of the new commands is "Show All Greek Versions" which opens a notepad with the Analytical Greek New Testament as well as these three additional versions. Additional TranslationsBible Windows now comes with 7 English translations as well as the old German Luther version. The English translations include the RSV, NRSV, KJV, ASV, Darby, Webster's and Bible in Basic English. One of the new commands is "Show All Translations" which opens a notepad with all of your installed translations. If you have a translation from the Online Bible like the NIV or NASB, these translations are included in the "Show All" command. This allows for an instant check of all of the installed translations. Quick Help"Quick Help" allows you to click on a Greek or Hebrew word and get either/both the grammatical analysis or the word for word translation in a small window which automatically disappears. Internet Explorer SupportEither Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Netscape's Navigator can be used with Bible Windows or the Workplace programs. Silver Ancient LibraryThis Library includes the 38 volumes of the Early Church Fathers, Josephus, Aristotle, Herodotus, Homer, Plato, Plutarch, Sophocles, Tacitus, Thucydides and more (in translation). These texts comprise more than 100 MB and are delivered as Folio Infobases. Linguist's Software Font SupportBible Windows can now use Linguist's Software's Greek and Hebrew fonts. These fonts are not included with the update! The fonts must be purchased separately from Linguist's Software. Both Bible Windows and the Workplace programs support these fonts. CD Distribution OnlyBible Windows 5.0 is only available on CD-ROM due to the fact that the complete Bible Windows package now requires 250 MB. Bible Windows may now be completely run off the CD-ROM or part, or all, of Bible Windows can still be installed to your hard disk. NEW TLG/PHI Workplace 6.0ConcordancesThe Workplace programs can now make "key word in context" and "word list" concordances. Whole authors, works of an author or some portion of a work can be concorded. The concordance process automatically reconstructs hyphenated words. Search Papyri and Inscriptions by DateSearches through the Papyri and Inscriptions on the PHI 7 CD-ROM can be limited to a specified century. |
