What happened to Bible Windows?Microsoft lawyers. After 10 years of Bible Windows without any confusion, we received a letter from the Seed "Intellectual Property Law Group" (www.seedlaw.com) which stated, "Microsoft is concerned that your use of the name Bible Windows for your software product could confuse customers. Consumers seeing your product name may think that your product is manufactured by, sponsored by or affiliated with Microsoft Corporation. As a trademark owner, Microsoft much [sic] watch for and take steps to remedy potentially confusing and dilution uses of its trademark." Although we deny that there has been any confusion of this sort, or any dilution of Microsoft's trademark name, we have no ability to challenge Microsoft. So, although we have been a loyal Microsoft customer for many years, we were forced to change our product name. Some have already asked if it would be useful to write Microsoft and/or Seed Law. The answer is no, it would not be helpful. They would only laugh at you and it could result in them taking action against us that would almost certainly do us more harm than good. Don't like Microsoft doing this and causing us significant damage? Order an update! That is really the only helpful thing you can do.
